Often overlooked or never fully resolved, epiphora can have a significant impact on patients’ everyday lives. This discussion workshop provides a practical approach to identifying the underlying causes of epiphora through careful history taking, symptom exploration, and interpretation of clinical signs.

Using three case examples, the session supports deeper understanding of epiphora management, with a focus on improving quality of life while managing patient expectations in clinical practice.

Key learnings:

• Interpret results from at least two different clinical assessment techniques for diagnosing common anterior ocular conditions
• Communicate with patients in a professional and empathetic manner
• For specialty optometrists: identify and prescribe appropriate medications for at least two ocular conditions, considering patient-specific factors and potential drug interactions.
